That's exactly the kind of films I am very fond of. Not a masterpiece,I warn you. Only a feature about nostalgia, old timers vs newgeneration, a topic already told before in many movies. But I don'tcare. Its a sort of poor man's CARLITO'S WAY, in the french manner.Olivier Marchal plays here an ex con just released from the can whocomes back to his childhood district. Menilmontant district, in Paris,but not as known as Montmartre or Pigalle. Our lead finds out thateverything around him collapses, everything has changed and not in thebest way...A tale about friendship, true feelings, a tale that grabsyou. A touching, poignant story, enhanced by a good directing and aboveall a true powerful editing. Here, many characters have their faithsmeet. Very interesting. Some good action sequences not for thesqueamish either. This film reminds me UN PRINTEMPS A Paris, made in2006.
